Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation (New York: The Penguin Press, 2013)

“At a certain point in the late middle of my life I made the unexpected but happy discovery that the answer to several of the questions that most occupied me was in fact one and the same: Cook.”

And thus Michael Pollan begins his book Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation. His is such a simple concept and that’s why I like it. He relates ¬†going to the kitchen, preparing a meal and then enjoying it with someone you love to an act of rebellion as you show love for yourself, your family, the environment, the economy, your health, your state of mind, your understanding of the natural world and your place in it. If you want to get the most out of life in terms of your performance, health and lifestyle then read this book – perhaps while cooking.
